SOLVED - Identity of Jane Doe

Tammy Jo

Livingston County Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty reports a major breakthrough in the 1979 unidentified homicide case commonly referred to as the Caledonia Jane Doe case. Livingston County Sheriff’s Investigators have been working closely with the Hernando County Florida Sheriff’s Office on a recent lead, which has led to the identification of the victim. Her name is Tammy Jo Alexander. Tammy Jo was born on November 2, 1963 to Barbara Barnes and Marvin Alexander in Atlanta Georgia. Tammy Jo last lived in Brooksville Florida and attended school at Hernando High School and South Sumter High School, both in Florida. We are asking anyone who knew or has information about Tammy Jo Alexander, please call 1-800-CALL-FBI.

As many of you know, the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office responded on November 10, 1979 to a report of a young girl found murdered on the side of Route 20 in the Town of Caledonia. Since that day, the Sheriff’s Office has followed up on thousands upon thousands of leads across the world and persistently worked to identify her as new technology developed. The Sheriff’s Office has never given up trying to identify her and her killer. The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office continues to lead this investigation while working closely with the Hernando County Florida Sheriff’s Office, the FBI, and the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office to bring justice to Tammy Jo Alexander.
